It’s not hard to find free iconsets on the web. However, it is tough to find iconsets that are consistently updated. The Standart icons are a totally new line-style iconset, created by designer Yaroslav Samoilov. The website curates all the icons in one place and helps build a brand around this set. But, the best part? It’s frequently updated with new icons and you can even see the “newest change” date in the top-right corner of the page. Yaroslav is the primary designer on this project and he’s released the work for free to the design community. Read Also: 40 Free and Useful GUI Icon Sets for Web Designers This could be for recognition of his skillset, or to just add value to the Internet, or maybe a mix of both. Either way, I’d say he’s succeeded because this icon pack is one of the sleekest new kids on the block. Right now, it’s downloadable in three formats:
The icon fonts themselves can even be added to your site with a CDN stylesheet that you just add to your header. Note this is hosted through the Standart.io domain, so I don’t know how well it can hold up against heavy load. But, just the fact that this iconset is so open and freely available makes it one of the best line icon packs you can get. Not to mention it’s frequently being updated with new icons. Given enough time, this pack could reach a level similar to Font Awesome or any other major icon font. You’ll notice whenever you click a download link, it directs you over to Gumroad. Most people know this as a pay-to-download marketplace but you can grab certain items for free if they’re set to $0 downloads. All of Standart’s Gumroad files are totally free, so you’re not paying anything to download. However, you are allowed to give some money if you want to tip Yaroslav for all his hard work. Either way, the Standart iconset is worth saving and revisiting as the months go on. I have a feeling this could become a staple iconset for hundreds of future websites! And, if you’d like to say thanks or drop a request for new icon styles you can message Yaroslav on his Twitter handle @yaosamo. from http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/standart-iconset/

Custom grids are some of the toughest features to create from scratch. You can find plenty of masonry grid plugins but they each have their own limitations & requirements. The Muuri script is a strong alternative for anyone who needs sortable & responsive grid elements with touch support. It’s built on Velocity.js for the animations, along with the Hammer.js library for handling mobile touch. Muuri does not require jQuery, so it’s one of the few vanilla JavaScript plugins for grid interfaces. On the main project page, you’ll find a beautiful grid demo with all the features. Animation effects, drag & drop support, and different grid elements of varying sizes. This demo showcases just how much control you have with a Muuri grid. You can choose which elements to display, based on classes (i.e. filtering), along with how you want to fill out empty spaces. Masonry grids often leave empty spots because the grid elements don’t always fit together perfectly. This is pretty typical for larger websites such as Pinterest. Although, you can add draggable grid items to pretty much any user-controlled interface. While the hardware layout of a smartphone may be fascinating to some, the act of disassembling a phone that costs thousands of dollars just for a look at the innards doesn’t make much sense to many. Thankfully, the masters of teardowns, iFixit, has done many of us a favor as they have created wallpapers of the iPhone X’s interior layout. iFixit has published two separate wallpapers, with the first being a straightforward shot of the iPhone X’s interior. The second one is a little fancier as they’ve managed to partner up with Creative Electron to create a wallpaper out of an X-Ray shot of the iPhone X. If you’re currently an owner of the iPhone X, these wallpapers are pretty much almost accurate layouts of your new smartphone thanks to the iPhone X’s edge-to-edge display and lack of a home button. One word of advice though is that you should probably not set this wallpaper as your home screen as the text from the screen and the writings found on the hardware may cause some confusion. from http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/iphone-x-wallpaper-the-inside/ In the design industry, there’s always a gold rush for a good font that may add impact to the designs. However, there is a chance the ringtone of your favorite tune may not be available, or not created to your taste. If that’s the case, then you can also create your own ringtones from your favorite songs and melodies. In today’s post, I will show you how you can create a ringtone out of any audio file and do it without spending a penny. Read Also: 70+ Sites to Download Free Sound Effects for Almost Everything Create Ringtones on AndroidTo create ringtones on your Android phone, you’ll need a third-party app. There’re many ringtone creator apps available on Google Play Store, but I found Ringdroid to be the most reliable one. It is an open-source app that is completely free to use and doesn’t contain any ads. On top of that it is astonishingly easy to use, so we will be using it for demonstration purpose. Although, if Ringdroid doesn’t work for you or you are looking for more features, then there are other options as well. Ringtone Maker and MP3 Cutter are also great apps that are free (but ad supported) and have reliable features. Using RingdroidInstall and launch Ringdroid and it’ll automatically list all the audio files in your phone or SD card in its interface. If you can’t find your required tone, then tap on the “Menu” button on the top-right corner (three vertical dots) and select “Show All Audio” option. This will search and list all the audio files to ensure nothing is missed. Do keep in mind that Ringdroid lists all of the audio files in your phone, including system sounds and other app UI sounds. Try not to get confused and use the “Search” bar above (if necessary) to quickly search for required audio files. Create ringtones using RingdroidTo start creating the ringtones, tap on the audio file that you want to customize and it will open up in Ringdroid editor. The audio file will be shown as waves with two adjustable sliders on it to specify the start and end point. Below you will see “play/pause” buttons and “start/end” time in seconds. There are multiple ways to specify start and end points to extract the ringtone out of the audio file. You can use the start and end sliders to specify exact start and end point of the ringtone. It will become easier if you play the audio file while doing so to pinpoint the location. Although it is not necessary and you can also specify without playing the audio. Another precise method to do this is to play the audio file and tap on “Start” button as soon as the starting point is played. Similarly, tap on the “End” button when the ending point is played. This method is a little slower, but you will get precise start and end points. And of course, you can also manually enter the starting and ending points in “Seconds” by tapping on the counter next to “Start” and “End” buttons. You must know the exact start and end points in seconds to use this method. Once the start and end points have been specified, tap on the “Save” button above to save the ringtone. You can now give it a name and set it as default ringtone. This is pretty much it, the ringtone will be created and saved as a separate file from the original one. Other Ringdroid optionsRingdroid also has some other handy features to use it effectively. Below is an explanation of each option. Search barThe search bar in the main interface is really handy and does a great job of finding the right audio file. As Ringdroid loads all types of audio files stored on your phone, most probably you will need the help of this “Search” bar. The Search bar updates in real-time and you can search files with both title name or artist name. Set as defaultYou can set an audio file as default ringtone, notification tone or alarm tone right inside the Ringdroid interface. Simply tap on the upside down arrow next to the audio file and select “Set as default”. Assign to contactIf the file is a ringtone, then you can also assign it to specific contacts to easily identify them. Tap on the upside down arrow next to a ringtone and tap on “Assign to Contacts” option. Now just select the contact from the contacts list to assign to it. Record AudioYou can also record audio to create ringtones out of it. Tap on the “microphone” icon at the top of the interface and the recording will start. Record whatever you like and then tap on the “Stop” button when you are done. The recording will automatically load in Ringdroid editor where you can edit and create a ringtone. Read Also: 22 Free Digital Audio Editors to Download in 2017 To sum upI found Ringdroid to be very fast and simple to create custom ringtones on Android. Being open-source and not supported by ads is a plus point as well. Although if you want even more control, such as the ability to adjust volume or fade in/out time, then Ringtone Maker is a really good option as well. from http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/customize-ringtones-on-android/ There are tons of CSS animation web apps online. But, very few compare to the level of detail and ease of use you get with Animista. This free web app lets you generate custom CSS animations at the click of a button. You select between pre-designed motions such as slides, transforms, swings, and even shadow drop animations. Once you’ve created your animation, you can export the code just like with other CSS generators. Except, this code is much easier to work with and even comes with a built-in minifier tool. Read Also: 30 Cool CSS Animations You Have To See The interface can feel confusing at first but that’s only because of how many options you have! You build custom animations following three main steps and using the interface from top to bottom:
Through this process, you can change the animation’s total duration, the easing style, the delay, pretty much everything. And it all works through pure CSS3, which makes it even more impressive. Also note at the very top navbar you can even choose between different types of animation target styles. The default is “basic” which can work on pretty much anything (hover, click, or immediate animation). Other targets include page text, background animations, and even custom entrance animations to bring a hidden page element into view. I especially like the “attention” link at the top which has some cool shake & jitter effects for button styles. These work great on CTA buttons to grab attention and encourage user interactions. Once you’re done making adjustments, you just click the little bracket icon in the top-right corner of the preview pane. This brings a new page into view with your full CSS animation class, along with the keyframes. Optional features allow you to minify the code and include the auto-prefixer which supports older web browsers. I’ve used tons of custom CSS animation tools and no doubt Animista is the most feature-rich tool out there. And to be honest, the Save password prompt is quite annoying too. from http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/disable-password-options-in-browser/ If you are stuck in a situation where Windows stops you from accessing your own data, then I may be able to help you turn the tide. There could be multiple reasons why you may be seeing “Access denied” error when you try to access or modify a folder. In this post, I will try to list all the possible solutions to the Windows access denied error. Note: The following methods will only work if you have administrator rights of the PC. If you have a standard account, then you should talk to the PC administrator about this, as standard accounts have a limited access. Read Also: 6 Ways to Access Windows 10 Boot Options Menu Method 1: Take ownershipUsually, this error arises when there is a conflict with the ownership of the folder. This occurs after upgrading to a new version of Windows or messing with the user control options. Fortunately, as an administrator, you should have no problem becoming the owner again.
This should solve your access denied issue and let you access the folder and its content. If you don’t want to go through the above process or somehow it didn’t work for you, then a third-party tool can do this for you as well. Take Ownership is a handy tool that will add a context menu entry to easily take ownership. After installing the tool, right-click on the folder and select Take Ownership from the context menu to become the owner. Method 3: Use hidden administrator accountApart from the regular administrator account, there’s another hidden administrator account that’s much more powerful and has access to most areas of Windows. If you can’t access the folder due to any privilege issue, then this high privileged administrator account should be able to open it. Note: It is not advised to use elevated administrator account regularly as it gives access to areas you should not be skipping around (the reason why it’s hidden). When you are done using it, you should disable it. When you manage to access the restricted folder in this account, make sure you move it’s content to a different place where the regular administrator account works. Here’s how to check if it is encrypted:
You should contact the user who encrypted this folder and have them decrypt it from their account. Just install the tool and it will add an entry in the context menu. Right-click on the restricted folder and select Unlocker. The tool will scan the folder and show what is stopping you from accessing the folder. You just need to click on Unlock All here and Unlocker will automatically fix all the issues. Method 5: Access it from the Safe ModeThere is also a chance a third-party application or virus may be preventing you from accessing the folder. You should start the PC in Safe mode and then try accessing the folder. In Windows 8 and 10, you can access the Safe mode from the boot options, and in Windows 7 you can press the F8 key multiple times while the PC is starting to open Safe mode menu. Safe mode starts the PC with limited drivers and no third-party apps, so no app or virus should stop you from accessing the folder. If you can access it in the Safe mode, then try deleting recently installed apps and scan your PC for viruses with a good antivirus software, such as Avast. Method 6: Try another user accountThere is a chance your user profile may get corrupted and Windows may not be able to open files/folders in it. Try accessing the data from another user account to confirm this. In case you don’t have another user account, then you can easily create one. You should refer to these guides by Microsoft support to create new user account in Windows 7, 8 and Windows 10. Wrap upThe access denied error usually occurs when you have limited authority or the folder is not in the reach of your user account. Taking ownership of the folder or using the hidden administrator account should solve this problem. And of course, there could be many other types of system and application based errors that may prevent you from modifying the folder, but the Unlocker utility should be able to take care of them automatically. from http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/access-restricted-windows-folder/ It’s not hard to find free iconsets on the web.
And, if you’d like to say thanks or drop a request for new icon styles you can message Yaroslav on his Twitter handle @yaosamo. from http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/standart-iconset/ |
